Wayne Rooneys parents are Thomas and Jeanette. He was born in Croxteth in Liverpool, he has two brothers John and Graeme and he went to his local school called De La Salle. He had a very modest up bringing and grew up on a council estate.
At the tender age of ten Rooney was signed by Everton and scored in an FA Youth Cup match, at that time he was earning just £80 per week.
At the age of sixteen whilst playing against Arsenal he scored the match winning goal making him the youngest player to score a goal in the premier leagues history.

By the end of the 03-04 season Rooney was looking to to move from Everton and subsequently requested a transfer, he blamed this on what he thought was Evertons inability to play in Europe. His club said they would only accept a transfer if the fee was above £50 Million and he later snubbed a deal from Everton worth £12000 a week, which left Newcastle United and Manchester United competing to sign him. He eventually signed with Manchester United when a deal with Everton was reached which was close to £31 Million.

Rooneys first match for Manchester United was on 28th September 2004 in which they played Fenerbahce SK in the Champions League it was a match they won 6 2 with Rooney scoring a hat trick. His first title was to come two years later in 2006 when they won the League Cup by beating Wigan Athletic 4 0 Rooney scored twice, he was also named the man of the match.
During the 2006-07 season, Rooney signed a two year extension to his contract which meant he would play for United until 2012. By the end of April he had scored an amazing twenty three goals in all matches which meant he was neck and neck with his teammate Ronaldo for the honour of highest goal scorer.

Rooneys International Career
Rooney began his Career with England on February 12th 2003 when he played a friendly against Australia, he was the youngest player at that time to earn an England cap at the age of seventeen. Theo Walcott broke Rooney's appearance record by 36 days in June 2006.
He played at Euro 2004 and on 17th June 2004 became the youngest player to score in the competitions history.
Wayne suffered an injured foot during a premier league match in April 2006 and it was doubtful he would be match fit for the World Cup of that year, England tried every trick in the book to speed up his recovery including him spending time in an oxygen tent. He played in the group match against Trinidad and Tobago and also against Sweden but failed to score. nfortunatley he never got back to anywere like the form he needed to compete at that level and England were dumped out of the World Cup in the quarter finals.
